Privacy

The PaycheckBase calculator is designed to work without collecting sensitive personal or financial identifiers.

Effective October 5, 2026. PaycheckBase is published by PMX Tech Studio, an independent software studio registered in India, and is intended mainly for people filing taxes in the United States — every figure on the main site is a US federal, state, or local calculation. The UK pages estimate UK income tax, National Insurance, pension and student-loan deductions instead. This notice covers both. Privacy questions can be sent to contact@paycheckbase.com.

Calculator inputs

Calculator inputs are processed in your browser. The site is a static export with no page-level server, so the arithmetic behind every estimate runs on your own device. PaycheckBase does not ask for your name, Social Security number, employer, bank information, tax documents, email address, or account credentials, and it collects no payment details of any kind.

Shareable URLs

Scenario values are written into the page URL so you can bookmark or share an estimate. Depending on the tool, these include your salary or hourly rate, hours and weeks, bonus amount, side-hustle revenue and expenses, retirement-contribution amounts, number of dependents, filing status, pay frequency, work state and locality, and the states and localities being compared. Some pages also carry a salary figure in the address itself, such as /salary/85000-after-tax-in-california/.

These values stay in your browser’s address bar and history. They are not transmitted to us by the act of appearing there, but anyone you send the link to — and anyone who can see your screen or browser history — can read them. Do not add sensitive information to a URL.

Cookies and browser storage

PaycheckBase sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. It does use the following, and nothing else:

  • Saved plan — when a calculator suggests a sequence of other calculators to work through, the scenario behind that sequence (salary, contribution amount, dependents, filing status, pay frequency, work state and locality, and any qualified overtime or tip amounts you entered) is kept in your browser’s session storage so the sequence survives navigation between pages. The sequence is worked out in your browser. It is cleared when you close the tab and is never uploaded.
  • Analytics session — a random session identifier is kept in session storage for the duration of the tab, so that several page views can be counted as one visit. It is discarded when you close the tab.
  • Your analytics choice — if you switch the usage measurement off under Your controls below, a small value recording that choice and when you made it is kept in local storage so it is remembered on later visits. Nothing else is stored with it. An earlier version of the site offered a different privacy control that wrote to the same place; a value it saved is still read and still honoured.
  • Purchase entitlement — if you buy the enhanced PDF export or the reasonable-compensation dossier, a signed token recording what you bought and when it expires is kept in local storage, so the purchase is remembered on a later visit. It contains no card or payment details — those go directly to Stripe and never reach this site — and is cleared if you clear your browser storage.
  • Dossier purchase draft — buying the reasonable-compensation dossier means leaving the page to pay and coming back, which would otherwise lose the occupation you chose and the answers you typed. Session storage holds that draft only for the moment of the redirect, restores it on return, and deletes it immediately afterward. It is never sent anywhere.

Analytics

PaycheckBase measures how its pages are used, and this measurement runs by default. Nothing interrupts you to ask — this section is the disclosure instead, and it describes the whole of what is collected. You can switch the measurement off at any time under Your controls. The measurement is first-party, sets no advertising identifier, and cannot follow you to another site.

Provider

There is no third-party analytics vendor and no vendor script. Measurements are sent to PaycheckBase’s own server at /api/events and stored using Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, the platform PaycheckBase runs on. Nothing is shared with an advertising network or a data broker.

Purpose

To count page views, see which calculators are reached from which pages, and measure how many pages a visit covers. This informs what gets built next. It is not used for profiling, for advertising, or for any decision about an individual.

What is collected

  • Event name — drawn from a fixed list, such as a page view or a next-step click.
  • Page path — for example /salary/85000-after-tax-in-california/. Because some paths contain a salary figure, that figure forms part of the path recorded. Values you type into a calculator are never sent.
  • Link context — where a next-step link led, and which part of the page it was clicked from.
  • Session identifier — a random value held in session storage for the life of the tab. It is not a cookie, is not linked to your name, email, or any account, and a new one is generated for every new tab.

That list is exhaustive. The record carries no IP address, no name, no email address, no device fingerprint, and no identifier that survives the tab being closed, so one visit cannot be tied to another or to you.

Retention

Analytics data points are deleted automatically three months after they are written. There is no longer-term archive.

Your controls

You can switch the usage measurement off here, at no cost and without giving a reason. Switching it off stops the page-view and next-step events from being sent and discards this tab’s session identifier. The choice is remembered in this browser only, so it does not follow you to another browser or device, and it ends if you clear your browser storage.

Usage measurement is on by default.

The button needs JavaScript. Without it, closing the tab ends the only continuity that exists, and clearing your browser storage does the same immediately. A tracker blocker, or any browser setting that blocks background requests, also stops the beacon outright. Nothing on the site depends on the measurement: every figure is computed on your own device whether the beacon reaches us or not.

Advertising, affiliates, and payments

Advertising, affiliate placements, and payments are disabled. PaycheckBase does not load an optional provider merely because a placeholder or integration boundary exists. Before any of these is enabled, this notice must first identify the provider, purpose, data categories, retention, and available controls, as the Analytics section above does. Third-party advertising is the case that goes further: it would set identifiers this site does not currently set, so it would bring back a consent control before it ran at all.

Your figures stay on your device

Every figure on this site is calculated in your browser. Nothing you enter into a calculator — salary, hourly rate, bonus, contributions, dependents, filing status, state, or locality — is sent to us or to anyone else.

That includes the audit and the suggested sequence of calculators: both are produced by a rules engine that runs in your browser against published tax tables. There is no request to answer them, and no third party involved in producing them.

PaycheckBase previously offered optional AI explanations, which sent a coarsely rounded version of your figures to an outside model provider. Those features were removed on 26 August 2026 and the endpoints behind them now refuse all requests. No model provider receives anything from this site, no provider key is configured, and the cache and rate-limiting machinery that supported them — including the pb_advisor_session cookie — no longer exist.

The one thing this site does send is the usage measurement described under Analytics above, which carries no figure you typed.

Hosting

The site and its analytics endpoint are hosted on Cloudflare. As with any web host, Cloudflare receives and retains standard request information — including your IP address, the pages requested, and timing — under its own terms, independently of anything described above. A request identifier is returned in the response headers so a specific request can be traced when diagnosing a fault.

Contact and updates

Questions, corrections, and privacy requests can be sent to contact@paycheckbase.com. Material privacy changes will be reflected on this page, and the effective date above records the current version.
